Trinity Church Graveyard
Trinity Church, on Wall Street and Broadway, New York. Within its gate, time seemed to stand still. There was a feeling of reverence that I can't explain. And with what's going on in Haiti right now, it feels good to revisit these grounds in my photo files.

A lovely somber image. The people of Haiti are in our thoughts and prayers.
so horrible the situation in haiti.
Very nice photo, love the sepia treatment, it really fits. So sad about all the displaced people in Haiti.
Great choice for the photo today. Nice image - and I'm praying so hard for the people of Haiti.
Quite a contrast to the bulldozing of bodies and mass graves in Haiti. They have been so stripped of anything that resembles identity, dignity and reverence for their loved ones. It amazes me how humanity can join together and rise to the horrific brought on by forces outside their control, yet can destroy each other in such horrific ways brought on by the acts of their own hands and governments.
Incredible photo - stark contrast between old and new and awesome angle.
And I agree...this is the perfect choice for today and what's going on in Haiti.
Super perspective.. remind me to take you to the ancient Jewish cemetery on West 21st btwn Sixth-Seventh Avenues ... its awesome
I've never even thought that there would be a graveyard inside the city.
Kate, this is beautiful.

what a photo...our prayers and heart go out to those in Haiti.
Ive been there! But your photo lends a sense of peace (probably because it's coupled with your words) I felt more here, at your blog, than in the graveyard.
I am going to NY at the end of the month..and the hotel is around the corner from this church...so I'll definately pay it a visit. Hope it is not going to be freezing cold.
Also praying for Haiti.
I've just discovered your blog today, but I will certainly visit again. I also love to photograph cemetaries and graveyards. Equally I love your dog - he's georgeous!
I blog as well and some entries (there's an "In English" category) are in English but translation is possible. I do a lot of photograpy too, and have several favorite topic's as well as the cemetaries - racehorses/horses, my cat, and of course food as well.
I've added you as a contact on flickr as well. Have a nice weekend. Yes horrible with Haiti. Makes you very thankful to live in a safe place.
hey i really like your blog, really great photography!
i have a photography blog too, if youd like to check it out

great work!
What a beautiful shot!
I love graveyards. I've lived across from two in my life time, so far.
Ah yes, I remember this well. My daughter took some fantastic pictures of this cemmetary a few years back when we were in NYC. It seems so out of place with the landscape surrounding it.
A sad, but lovely photo.
