Fleur de lis

Fleur de lis
Found on the camera disk over the weekend. My husband had the macro lens out again and captured this wonderfully curved bud. I'm not sure of the plant, although I believe it may be a tree. SkeletalMess textures applied.

Sugar Mountain

Lilac bud
The buds get bigger every day. I love how they look at this time of year with their deep purple hues and sugary texture. SkeletalMess texture applied, available [here] as a free download. Blending mode set to linear burn @ 39% opacity.

Oh to live on Sugar Mountain, with the barkers and the colored balloons. You can't be twenty on Sugar Mountain, although you think you're leaving there too soon. You're leaving there too soon.

Mosaic Monday: Spring Cleaning

Mosaic Monday: Spring Cleaning
Cleaning is a tough job and I have a love / hate relationship with it. I love it when it's clean. I just hate doing it sometimes. But if I take it in stages, and take it slow, well then it works so much better.
For more mosaics please visit my friend, Mary at Little Red House where she hosts a weekly theme for these. Enjoy your day.

Feelin' groovy

Feelin' groovy
Ah, but I have been remiss in posting here. Apologies for that to those who enjoy this site.
This is the coolest lamp and is owned by a friend. I took it with my 50mm lens. Have a great day, all.

Favorite Things: Jimmy Belasco candles

I love these candles
I know I've said it before, but I'm sayin' it again. I love these candles but even more so now that Jimmy himself sent me a note. You see, I had found a candle on his site that was priced $0.00. So being the bad person that I am, I put it in my cart and continued shopping, thinking that the price would appear when I checked out. When it didn't, I figured that only the two candles I'd ordered would be delivered. Imagine my surprise when all three of them arrived, with a personal note from Jimmy saying that the Amber Moss scent had been discontinued, but he happened to find one, so he sent it along. And at no charge. What a nice guy!
Of course, I wrote and thanked him profusely and sent him the link to a post I'd done last week or the week before. Here it is if you care to read about my candle love. Oh, and I must tell you that there is still a sale going on at his site and my new favorite scent is Love. And it's on sale, baybee.

Little lilac bud

Lilac bud
I thought the lilac bush was a goner after a tree fell on it last fall. It broke my heart to see it. There's only half a bush now but it's budding. And this makes me glad.
SkeletalMess texture applied, soft light at around 50% opacity.

Orange you glad?

Orange you glad?
That it's Friday? I know I am.
This photo was taken last March at Longwood Gardens, in Pennsylvania. My blogging friend, Tracey, spent the day Thursday at Longwood. Check out her beautiful photography on her blog, These Nine Acres. Tracey is going to be teaching a workshop that deals with hands on strategies and techniques on capturing great floral images. She'll be live and in-person at Longwood Gardens where she's holding the class. If you live in the area, and are interested in improving your skills, leave a message on her blog. More to come. Have a great weekend, all!

Weekly dose of George

Weekly dose of George
Taken a few weeks ago and would you believe it? There's still snow on the ground here. It's not this high (thank heavens) but there's still a lot of white. In this photo, it's deeper than it looks. George is able to walk on 'top' of the footpath we made. For us to walk, however, we'd sink up to above our knees and we still weren't hitting the bottom.
Good times. I'm not kidding, either!

Goodbye February

Early February in MarylandJust fooling around with a frame I downloaded today at Shadowhouse Creations. The photo was taken earlier this month. I still can't believe how deep the snow was here in Maryland. Have a great Monday, all.
