Cemetery at Trinity Church, NYC

Trinity Church gravestones
Gravestones dating from pre-Revolutionary War in Trinity Church Cemetery, New York City. I found this place fascinating, and so lovingly cared-for. I plan on posting soon about my visit to the Big City on the regular blog.

I love old cemetaries. This one obviously has a huge amount of history, and what a beautiful setting. It has aged nicely.

Wonderful! I've been to that cemetery several times and it is lovely, and as you said, lovingly cared for. From the condition of the stone, it's easy to see why it's so important to preserve through photographs stones before they irreparably disintegrate.

Glad you found the same peace and fascination with this wonderful place, Kate.

I, too, love old cemeteries. Endlessly fascinating. I love that these particular stones are made of the red shale that is indigenous to this area. It makes them somehow more "cozy"... does that make any sense?

Cemeteries fascinate me. Especially old abandoned deserted ones, and old ones like this, preciously preserved.

I love old cemeteries they are so peaceful and almost spiritual. They demand respect and quiet in the most beautiful way. You can't help but be still and think of the past when you're there. And the detail they would put on the headstones never ceases to amaze me. I'm glad that you lingered awhile.

I have always liked cemeteries - the town where I grew up has a huge one on top of the highest hill in the town. Growing up, I spent a lot of hours there.
