Rather than get a Christmas tree today, we opted to take a drive instead. Our journey lead us to a trail just over the Pennsylvania border. We put George on the leash and walked about a half mile and then turned around and stopped by the stream. A huge sycamore had fallen, probaly years ago, and had continued to grow along the bank, sending up shoots like you see here. Pretty adaptable, I'd say.

Sycamores and sunshine

I love sycamores. We don't have many up here... And if you wait long enough, Christmas will be over and you won't need a tree;)
I love the bark on sycamores, and their gigantic leaves. We actually cut down our tree this year (didn't last year) but had a few minor mishaps along the way...
Great lesson from nature......keep on reaching up even if you've fallen.
Sycamores are such hardy trees. I love the pattern on the bark...reminds me of the Quakies we have here up in the higher elevations near our home. Love all of that bright blue sky!
