Downy Woodpecker
This industrious little woodpecker looks almost identical to the Hairy Woodpecker, but is smaller and has a smaller bill. They love the suet block we have hanging on the dogwood tree. Photo by my husband.
I will be taking a few days off to spend with my family and friends and will post when I can. Until then . . . Happy Holidays to everyone.

Such a cute fellow. Enjoy the holiday.
Great shot!
I would never know he is a woodpecker. He looks nothing like Woody. ;)
Merry Christmas!
I have those at my feeder Kate. They are busy birds! What a great shot!

He's a very distinguished looking fella
I've noticed that the birds appear to a lot braver especially in Winter. Lovely shot.

Aren't they great little birds? We just had 3 of them out here at the feeders a few minutes ago but I'm sure there's more waiting in the wings. It always interesting to catch them in the sitting position like in your photo.
Enjoy the time with your family Kate!
Merry Christmas!!! Love the Downy!!
Love, Love, Love to you all!
Sending lots of love ... have a wonderful time .. xoxo
Oh what a sweet photo! Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday, my friend! :)

What a beautiful bird. Great picture.
Great photo! We just refilled the bird feeder and suet feeder so I'm hoping my birds will stop giving that look...you know the one...where they try to convince you you're starving them....
