Requiem for a silo
I took this photo in Mathews, VA at the home of Chesapeake Bay Woman's parents who live next door to CBW. The old silo was beautiful, but dangerous and is now no longer standing. You can read about it here: [link].
I have also found some new textures, and used three of them on this shot (I love the names of them). I used Apple Crumble, Caramel Soft and Tarte Tatin. Heard about them on The CoffeeShop (link on my sidebar here) and they're called Flypaper Textures [link]. Cool stuff.

What a gorgeous photo, and thanks for the link. I love the processing, and I'll have to try those textures. :)
Oh how I love this photo!! It also inspires me to head to another area of our farm (where the old silo is) and take some pictures. I'm glad you captured this silo before it was disassembled. Thanks for the texture link too... they sound delish :) -Tammy
Beautiful! Those texture names sound so Autumnal to me!
CBW and parents are going to love this! It should be framed.
This is a beautiful photo.
hard to believe that a silo, so incredibly functional, can be so beautiful. I am a firm believer in the theory that there is beauty in function. It's a shame that it not longer stands. Such is life....
Lisa :)
beautiful - when I saw the texture I thought Michelle Black.
This is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much. I will call CB Mother over later today to see it and am sending a link now to my sisters.
Awesome.
I was about to ask texture And I read. Is it all about photoshop ???
Janice, I'll send you the print if you want it for your parents. Write me, k?
Hobo,
Texture is a picture of something that you layer on top of another picture and then adjust the blending and opacity. Yes, it is done in Photoshop. I've had so many questions on this that I think I may have to do a post showing how it's done. Oy.

Splendid! Yep a frame is just what this capture needs! Awesome job Kate.

Stunning...love the look of the tiles...can it be...tiles on the outside of the silo? really beautiful...smiles.
So beautiful. But who was in charge of naming those layers -- Julia Child?! I'm STARVING and I have precisely ZERO caramel apples around here.
May I steal this for my desktop photo this week, or is that a bit too nervy?
Glad you enjoyed the textures (and their names) Kate! Your photo is gorgeous!
...and thanks :-)
This is a wonderful shot Kate! I hadn't seen it before but I'm a bit behind the 8 ball these days. Very nice!
