Blue sentries

Pride of madeira

I didn't know what kind of plant this was when I took this photo in the Spring. Luckily, there was a name plate. This is Pride of Madeira, a member of the borage family. Taken at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

Oh that is just stunning. Actually blue in the flower world is kind of hard to find I think, especially that color of blue.

Gorgeous! I must plant this if it will grow in my neck of the woods. Wonderful photo. -Tammy

Ok, just me again jumping in to provide a Latin name for your GORGEOUS plant photograph...'Pride of Madeira' is an Echium fastuosum. Definitely not hardy to colder climes and must be conservatory-or greenhouse grown if one is below Zone 9. YEs, sentries indeed!
