The Color of Water

The Color of Water
This is one of the panels on display at The High Line, an elevated park in New York City. Artist Spencer Finch photographed the water in the Hudson once every minute from a tugboat drifting along Manhattan's west side. The color in each pane of glass was based on a single pixel point. There are three panels.
You can read more about the project [here].

Ode to an American master

Andrew Newell Wyeth passed away in his sleep today at his home in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. He was 91 years old.
His paintings evoked a nostalgic vision of times past.
I lived nearby Chadds Ford in the 1980's when Mr. Wyeth was the subject of an intense media spotlight for his "Helga" series of 45 paintings and 200 sketches. These pictures, many of them nudes, were the product of hundreds of modeling sessions with one of his neighbors, Helga Testorf. No one else, not even his wife, had previously known about the series, and their disclosure to the public was arguably the art event of the decade.
May he rest in peace.
