Late September afternoon
Taken late Saturday afternoon, after a long day devoted to housekeeping. It was quite warm and the sky was full of purple martins and dragonflies who were eating all the recently-hatched bugs. Truly magnificent although very difficult to capture.
That's George at the bottom of the dogwood tree. Hanging on it towards the bottom is one of my husband's contraptions. I don't even say anything anymore. Whatever he wants is fine with me and if it's his heart's desire to put an old windowbox planter on the trunk of a tree and fill it with moss and birdseed, well have at it, I say. It's not like the style police will be visiting anytime soon.

That contraption is kinda cute. Just like the puppy.
Beautiful! Love the gourd bird house, too!
I like it, a very clever idea! Beautiful scenery
a comfy place for a bird meal.
that tree is full of some very magical colors.
it is beautiful.
Ok, so this contraption got me to thinking...it is filled with moss AND birdseed...hmmm, interesting combo...and then there's George there {{{{lying in wait}}}} below. What could be the purpose of said seed in such a contraption, me wonders? Could it be that George's arch enemies - SQUIRRELS - come down to fill their pouches with moss laden seed goodies, which would then provide the perfect opportunity to be accosted by said handsome dog...thusly, providing non-ending, free entertainent for contraption-maker and wifey?

Beautiful. It made me feel serene imagining myself sitting under that tree.
This is a lovely scene with terrific depth. And the leaves at the top of the frame are magical.
Feels like a Monet.....smiles.
I wondered why the tree had a skirt ... maybe its a squirrel trap so George can get at 'em more easily
So lovely! Are trees haven't started changing a bit yet. We're having beautiful weather though.
LOL...it's the Country and who cares. I tell my hubby if people don't like the way something is at our house, they don't have to look or they can leave.
Utterly peaceful and beautiful!
Beautiful photograph. Thanks for sharing.

I am envious you are enjoying a bit of warm. I had to laugh not at you but with you on your husbands creativity. I guess you have to share the things in the yard.
