Intoxicated bee
At first, I thought it was collecting pollen, but then I noticed that it was just hanging on by what looks to be its tongue.
I thought it looked stuck and that maybe it was dying. I put the macro lens on it and saw that it was moving so slowly and rocking.
So I backed away and took a small stick and moved it a little. It perked right up and then flew off in a rather drunken manner.
I lead an exciting life, yes?

LOL, does nectar get fermented? Great macro!
Have mercy....I'll be there soon!
fantastic macro
Well, CG, this is a little story that could become a HUGE story. Imagine the embellishments one could make! WONDERFUL close-up of bee, in bee-ing-ness.
p.s. "rocking"...they DO this????
Wow what a wonderful blog you have some really beautiful photos of such great power they are so clear to look at you are very very very talented indeed.
I was so surprised. I thought that it had somehow gotten its tongue 'stuck' in there or something. Like maybe it had a damaged part that it hadn't been able to get loose. Maybe it had sunstroke from being there all that time, so I used the macro lens to see better. It was moving its legs and rocking a little. I thought I would help it to get unstuck, so got a stick and pushed it.
Then it came to life and I backed way up because I didn't want to get stung and it flew away in a rather zig-zaggy manner. Weird.
I'll have a glass please.

Nice capture Kate! I felt a little like that myself last night.
I've found that bees don't bother me if I don't swat at them..this guy looks like someone got there before you and gave him a good swat!
