Oh, happy day
Summertime, and the living is easy.
Well, not really, but when I look at this picture, it sorta feels that way sometimes . . .
Michelle Black's 'Funky' action applied, opacity lowered to 40%.

Entrance to Chinatown, Philadelphia
Taken on Arch Street near Reading Terminal Market. My pictures have been rather colorful lately, I must say. I'll get back to nature soon, but I'm having too much fun with this phase of mine.

Groovy, dude
I think this shop looks really fun but unfortunately, we didn't have time to go in. The meter was running and the car was parked blocks from here. Next time, though.

Close, but no cigar
I love funky signs and this is one that my sister spotted as we strolled down South Street in Philadelphia today.
The phrase, 'close, but no cigar' and 'nice try, but no cigar', originated in the US around the mid 1900's when fairground stalls gave out cigars as prizes. I mean, just in case you were wondering.

Vetgetables. It's What's for Dinner
With the exception of the ground beef and the cheese, everything for dinner tonight came from my husband's garden. The corn was the best I've had this year. The red pepper was huge and wonderful (very full of vitamin C, I might add). And the tomatoes aren't Jersey tomatoes, but they're just as good! And I love fresh ground pepper.

All Volkswagens go to Heaven
If they live here, at least. On Queeen's Creek, Mathews County, VA lies a veritable Volkswagen Graveyard. Groovy, man.

Meg of Maine
She came with her mother to Blog Fest in Virginia, sharing the driving all the way from the state of Maine. What girl wouldn't want to spend 4 days with friends of her mother? I'm sure she thought it would be a blasty blast. Not.
But she was wrong. She ended up having the most wonderful time of her life. And she cried when she left us. I meet a lot of cool kids working at my school. And Meg honey, you are at the top of my list, girl.
By the way folks, she was stung by a jelly fish shortly before I shot this photo. First aid was applied and I'll leave that to your imagination because we all know what the best thing for a jellyfish sting is, don't we? But look at this intrepid traveler. She rocks.

Favorite things: New handbag
I bought a new handbag at a very French shop in NYC last weekend. I thought it looked nice sitting on the counter waiting for me to buy it.
I should be home from the VA Blog Fest later this afternoon. I'm sure I've had a wonderful time and will tell you all about it soon. Until tomorrow, then.

Favorite things: Linens in the breeze
I like using the clothesline. It's a soothing thing to do, plus it's economical. And it smells good.

This bug's stylin'. A fashionista if I've ever seen one. In fact, I'd say that she was . . .

Beef. It's what's for dinner.
Taken in the Meatpacking District in NYC. (At least I think that's where we were).
Recipes for what's for dinner can be found [here]. Seriously.

The Color of Water
This is one of the panels on display at The High Line, an elevated park in New York City. Artist Spencer Finch photographed the water in the Hudson once every minute from a tugboat drifting along Manhattan's west side. The color in each pane of glass was based on a single pixel point. There are three panels.
You can read more about the project [here].

Inside the Conservancy
I took this in the Spring during my visit to Longwood Gardens, about an hour north of here. It's a good place to soothe your soul.
Coffeeshop's Teeny Tiny World action applied. If you've got Photoshop, you can pick it up free [here]. Scroll down once you get there. The html is a bit off and the posts are far down the page. (Like I have room to talk. I am the QUEEN of "I don't know nuthin' about birthin' no babies . . . er, I mean about html code.)

Fern frond
I used 3 Florabella textures here, although I can't remember the blending modes and opacity of any of them. Too bad, too. Because I sorta like 'em.

Doing the catwalk

I am too sexy for my hat too sexy for my hat
what do you think about that.
And I do my little turn on the catwalk yeah on the catwalk yeah.
I just saw this little picture in my files and haven't been able to get the song out of my head.
Damnit.

Milk and honey
From the archives and when we used to live on Northview Stallion Station, a foal takes a drink on a spring day in 2008. Florabella textures applied. I miss horses, but I think I've mentioned that before . . .

New home
I bought a birdhouse for my husband. There's not much more to say other than to note its rustic elegance and close proximity to the red barn. The star lends a rather Independence Day air, don't you think? See how much I can say when there's really nothing to say?
I used a texture from Dlyn called Rusty Paint and then brushed some off from around the birdhouse. I also used one from Florabella called Attache, in warm. Happy 4th of July, all!

Little firecracker
I've been remiss in posting on this site on a daily basis but it's summertime and that's the only excuse I've got really.
This is a little impatiens that I found on the camera card yesterday. I love surprises like this. Hope you do as well.
