Pirate Pumpkin

Pirate pumpkin
These are the little pumpkins that grew from seeds thrown behind a bush at the front of the house. We have six pumpkins and my husband carved some of them.
It was raining and one of the corn stalk leaves was blowing, making this little jack-o-lantern look like a pirate to me. Note the pumpkin on the left. My husband carved George's name into it!
Happy Halloween, all.

Weekly dose of George

Weekly dose of George
I'm not sure what this look is. It would be funny to hear your suggestions for a name for this photo, however. Want to give it a whirl?

The house on the hill

Late October 5
The view of the house from the edge of the property. I went back for the camera after glancing this way during a walk over the weekend. I loved the color of the sky and the trees as well as all the fallen leaves.
Have a beautiful day, my friends.

Mosaic Monday: Ladybugs on the loose

Mosaic Monday: Ladybugs

I like ladybugs and I like to think they like me. That's a whole lotta likes in one sentence, but the truth remains. I made this mosaic using a free blog-it board sample offered at MCP Actions. I downloaded the free sample into my photoshop program and followed the simple instructions. Then I added the bottom border.

Want to visit more mosaics? Go see my friend Mary, at Little Red House, where she hosts a weekly mosaic theme. I've got another one on my regular blog today. Sometimes I really get into making these. Have a beautiful week, all.

Something new

I'm trying something new today. It's a slideshow embedded in this post and I learned how to do it from fellow blogger, Bush Babe, from Down Under. [Tutorial here]. I think she was really surprised that I am so clueless when it comes to this kind of thing. But flickr confuses me! So don't be shocked, people. This is only my second attempt at this thing. My first one didn't work.
Thanks, Bush Babe!

Autumn leaves

Autumn leaves
I saw these leaves while I was walking today and had to go get my camera. I loved how dark the background was against the golden tones. I ran two actions from Totally Rad on them: Rusty Cage 40% and Oh Snap! 20%. Another beautiful fall day here in Maryland. Have a great weekend, all!

Weekly Dose of George

Weekly dose of George
George under the table in the breakfast nook, where we take all our meals. It's one of his favorite places (when we're around, of course).
Michelle Black texture applied as well as Platinum from the Florabella Collection.

Indian corn

Indian Corn
Indian corn from my husband's garden. I'm trying to slowly get back to updating this blog. This morning I decided to open some pictures I'd taken before my surgery last week. For this shot, I used Michelle Black's Vintage Mod on the photo, then applied two different textures. One is from Joy St. Claire, a freebie she offered and the other is Antique Liasons from Flypaper Textures. My husband grows indian corn every year and uses it to decorate. I like that about him.

Pumpkin without a country

Pumpkin in the afternoon light

This little fella is the last on the vine that I discovered growing from behind a bush in the front of our house. The rest are on our porch and there are six of them in all. I think they're quite decorative.
I have no idea where the title post came from. I am blaming it on the pain meds.

Flowers in the afternoon light

Flowers in my window
Autumn hues in my window with the lace curtains. Flypaper textures used with the following recipe: Antique Liasons, overlay blend @36% opacity; Lamp White Brush, overlay blend @18% opacity; Caramel Soft, soft light blend @ 42% opacity. Textures are fun to play with. And I never know which ones are going to work, which is half the fun.
I'm going to be taking a couple of days off. Hope to be back online by Sunday. ttfn.

Flying naked

Flying naked
My husband asked me if I bought this bottle of wine just for the label. You see, he knows me because the answer was yes. Oh, yes I did.
At first, I wondered why she would be flying next to her bike naked, but after pondering it, I came to the conclusion that it's actually the bike that's flying and not her. I think she was about to get dressed, saw the bike flying by and ran out of her apartment and grabbed it by the handlebars.

Flypaper Texture: Elysiam normal blend @ 22%

Evening at the birdbath

Evening at the birdbath
I looked out from the table in the breakfast nook and saw this lovely sight. I think that if I were a little girl, I would be looking for the fairies who lived here. In fact, when I was very young, I used to do that. I knew they were there. Doesn't it look like they'd choose this as a place to live?
I swear, I haven't been imbibing.

Mosaic Monday: good things

Mosaic Monday: good things
This is just a collection of things that were good about my weekend. There was a lot more, but I only had room for things with complimentary colors, you know. To see larger versions of these photos, visit [this post] at my other blog.
Mary at Little Red House hosts [Mosaic Monday]. Visit her site to see more offerings from near and far.

Requiem for a silo

Requiem for a silo

I took this photo in Mathews, VA at the home of Chesapeake Bay Woman's parents who live next door to CBW. The old silo was beautiful, but dangerous and is now no longer standing. You can read about it here: [link].
I have also found some new textures, and used three of them on this shot (I love the names of them). I used Apple Crumble, Caramel Soft and Tarte Tatin. Heard about them on The CoffeeShop (link on my sidebar here) and they're called Flypaper Textures [link]. Cool stuff.

Purple reject

Cosmos in September
I was searching for a photo to enter in Kacey's upcoming Photo of the Month contest, the theme of which is "purple". This is a reject photo because my purple cosmos look more pink, so I can't enter this one. This contest is open to everyone and begins Monday. Feel free to enter!
Hoping your Saturday is 'in the pink'. It's 11 am as I write this and I think I've put off cleaning long enough now.

Be still, my heart

Hawk feather
A gift from my husband. He really knows the way to my heart. I love feathers and we think this is a Cooper's Hawk.

Bin full of thread

Bin full of color
This colorful image is being brought to you this Thursday to bring a little cheer, just in case you're needin' any. Call me crazy, but I find this bin full of thread very cheerful and not just because of the color. I don't understand why. It just does.
